As we count down to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women is honoring the fierce, unbroken spirit of the women who built our state. True leadership isn’t defined by titles it’s forged in moments of absolute courage when the stakes are highest. In South Carolina, that revolutionary spark was perfectly embodied by a young girl named Laodicea “Dicey” Langston.

At just fifteen years old, Dicey proved that one woman with unwavering resolve can alter the course of history. When she discovered an enemy plot to ambush a Patriot camp, she didn’t wait for someone else to act. She traveled miles through forests to deliver a lifesaving warning. Later, when raiders held her father at gunpoint, she bravely threw herself in front of the barrel, daring them to fire. Her fierce, protective grit didn’t just save lives; it commanded absolute respect and shook the enemy to their core.

Dicey Langston left South Carolina women a profound blueprint of empowerment:

We do not shrink back, we do not stay silent, and we do not wait for permission to protect what we love.

That exact same fire is what drives the ladies of the SCFRW today. Modern Republican women don’t sit on the sidelines. We are on the ground right now, turning our convictions into action and doing the heavy lifting for our communities.

As we look toward the 4th of July, we aren’t just remembering Dicey’s bravery we are actively channeling it. We stand unified, fully empowered, ensuring that the constitutional republic she risked everything to defend remains strong for our children and grandchildren.
